Our practice: Pieces of knowledge

  • Pupils always call teachers by first name, teachers are very kind, honest and open-minded.
  • Ann-Mari and all other teachers seem they are truly enjoying their jobs, (Ann-Mari was even jumping the rope with 3rd class pupils)
  • Children are allowed to go out to backyard and play in the gaps between the lessons.
  • School has 25 laptops available and children are free to use them. When teacher wants to borrow them for her students, she has to reserve them first though.
  • Every day during the first break (from 8:45 till 9:00) is prayer time. They sing, pray and thank god.
  • In contrast with the Czech republic, they don’t use the class-book in lessons but every single teacher has a notebook for notes, lesson schedule etc.
  • The grades up to seventh class in the english lessons are A, B, C, D (I’m good at understanding, reading, telling (A-almost all the time, B-most of the time, C-sometimes, D-hardly ever). From seventh class on grades are 1-5 (official marks are up to 12 – 6 means passed, 12 is the best grade and 0-6 failed)
  • When children are really naughty, they got locked up into a special glass-room called “telephone room”

We also tried roller coaster and power builder for two times. It was really great for the first time, but the second time gave me a headache and stomachache. Despite of this, it was really great!!

Wednesday

After 10 days of holiday, it was school again. We had Else Marie and we made some music project. We tried to tell music story accordance with picture of animal, our group had snake. We were singing our names in the rhythm, we were telling a short story with music instruments and so on. It was really interesting. In the evening we went for dinner at Thore’s. Thore prepared great meal for us. It was kebab with a lot of kinds of vegetables and meats and delicious ice-cream with chocolate sauce for dessert. Then we were watching friendly football game The Czech Republic vs. Denmark. It finished with draw.

In the morning we had lessons with Thorbjern about our coming practice. Afterwards we went with Jette for excursion. We visited castle in Sonderborg and physical centre in Danfoss. On our way back we also visited old mill and the battle ground. In the evening I felt asleep because I was very tired after this day.

WEEK 12

Trips and fun
We had a week full of traveling around Denmark :-)
We visited big cities and the small towns as well. We knew some new things, people and places..and finally we have already known what sun means here in Denmark because sun was shining almost whole week...Now it's sunday night and it's snowing...

Monday: Lögumkloster, Mögletönder, Tönder

There aren't many places in the world where you could feel like you're in fairytales...We visited such place. Little coloured houses with strawy roofs and small benches. Whole street lined by trees and lamps...

Tuesday: Egeskov and Odense

At first we left to Egeskov, the most beautiful castle in Denmark, but unfortunately it was closed. In Odense we visited Hans Christian Andersen's museum, we saw his house, botanic gardens and a lot of churches...We met Daniel and his friends, Tim and Finja there. In the end it was unpleasant report for us. We got fined for parking... But it was nice day after all.

Wednesday: Haderslev-harbor and great dinner

On Wednesday we had the day off, so we went to the harbor in Haderslev. It was nice weather again and we had really nice walk. We had a plan for the evening so we went to buy some drinks and food because we were invited for dinner at Tim's place. We were 12 persons at he table. Fresh salad and brusketa with tomatoes as starter, a lot of kinds of pizza (tuna, salami, ham, cheese, vegetables, champions, ...) and pancakes with strawberry jam and sirup at the end. It was fine evening. The others continued in Tribunen after dinner where was night concert. We went to sleep because we were very tired and we had to get up early on Thursday...for next trip...

Thursday: Arhus

On Thursday it was our journey to Arhus, to northernmost place of our plans. At first traffic jam waited for us. It took about 1 hour. At first we wanted to see mummy of 2000 years old man. But price wasn't so low, so we walked around areal and we saw some viking and thailand's houses at least. We visited open-air museum Den Gamble By, so it was main event of the day. We spent almost 3 hours there, we could see lifestyle in H.C.Andersen's era. Because Thursday was feast day, most of sights were closed.

Friday: Ribe and Esbjerg

Our last big trip in this week was on programme on Friday. At first we left to Ribe. We have already visited this town with other students during international week but we wanted to see more than we saw last time. We took a walk through the town. We walked in nice streets, we visited some shops with design products. After we tasted chococafe and hot chocolade in cute café. And than we visited church finally, because in the morning it was closed for devine servise here. Otík and me, we walked up the church tower and we watched surroundings from bird's-eye view. About 1 p.m. we left to Esbjerg (fishing port, funcionalistic bulding of the town hall). City was quite quiet. But we wanted to see ocean so we went to the seaside and we found big statues and amazing view on Atlantic ocean. Because it's strange to be in coats at sea shore we had to take them off and just lied down to sand...as you can see on the picture.

Satur
